Spring has come…amazing. It’s April 4th and ice is out, frogs are croaking their very loudest, rhubarb and chives are poking through the ground. Last year, we still had snow, with a few more storms before the end of April. Is it me, or has the clock and calendar decided to speed up? I can still hear my grandmother saying “I just don’t know where the time goes”…then hearing my mother say it…and now I’m saying it.
So since I’ve last looked at my blog, I’ve finished working on my “flip house” project. This was the neighbor’s house that my husband bought at an auction. He doesn’t normally go with me to auctions. I’m the one that loves them, and will stand all day to wait for one choice primitive antique piece. But on this beautiful October day, we walked over to the neighbors for their auction and he bought the house! He thought I needed something “to do”!!
So that’s what I worked on this winter. I, along with my talented friend Bill, turned the sadly neglected little gem into a clean, cozy 3 bedroom house! It was a fun project - one that I would love to do again. And I learned many new useful skills; things like caulking, laying tile and grouting, hanging doors and installing door knobs, laying laminate flooring, and installing kitchen cabinets. And let's not forget scraping old paint and re-staining all the woodwork! So finally we were ready and the house went on the market on a Thursday in March and 2 weeks later, after 5 showings, we had 2 offers!
Now we are just waiting for the closing where we will meet our new neighbors. Sure hope she likes to garden! Happy Spring Everyone!!
