SNOWBOARD CHAMP

Last weekend we returned to my ole stomping grounds, Evansville, Minnesota. Eddie and his snowboarding buddy were keen on entering the 6th Annual Faction Challenge at Andes Tower Hills. Eddie has snowboarded there a couple times before, so he was familar with the park. It's a larger terrain park and has larger jumps than what he's used to. The day of the competition was cold, with frigid winds that can blow an 11 year old right off course. There were about 70 competitors from across Minnesota. Luckily, their competition was broken down into the following groups, 12-Under, 13-14, 15-16, Women's, and Open. As an 11 year old, this was definitely in Eddie's favor. The competition was broken down into two heats, rail and boxes and what's called "big air", going over the large jumps. The competitors had 15 minutes on each event to complete as many tricks as they could. Oh, and did I mention they had to hike up the hill, no chair lifts for this comp. Well, Eddie is in pretty good shape, and he was able to make an extra run, because he literally "ran" up the hill. He did extremely well on the rails, but was a little disappointed in his big air performance. It was so windy, and icy that not many of the boarders were able to land their jumps. BUT, the good news is that HE WON his age group, with the metal to prove it! Today his name was in their local paper with this photo. We are proud of our boy for his dedication to this sport. He's a star, don't you think?
