Chair Affair

I've always had a passion for chairs. I don't know exactly what it is about them, but each one speaks to me. Each one is different, each one has a story to tell, or for me to imagine. Some of them say, take me home and weave a black and white shaker seat for me, like the black one above. Others say, take me home and paint me RED!
My latest chair project is this adirondack chair I painted for the Grand Rapids Area Library Chair Affair Fundraiser. I've dubbed it "wacky folk art" and of course it has a checkered pattern, as many of my projects do. There are also other chairs that have been painted by local artisans for the fundraiser. The auction will be on August 9th at the Rotary Tent at KAXE at 7 pm and all proceeds will go to the Library. Until the 9th, my chair is on display at Akasha Art & Antiques, 721 S. Pokegama in Grand Rapids. Check it out!
This was a fun project for me. Now I'm looking around at my other "plain jane" chairs and envisioning them with a "little sum- sum wack-a-doo"! If I tackle them next, I'll be sure to share some photos!

The black primitive chair is really cool. I have several chairs that have a similar look from the Otter Tail County area.
