This is the weekend to visit Grand Rapids, one of my favorite weekends of the year! Why? First of all, because my favorite community radio station - 91.7 KAXE, is having their 4th annual outdoor music festival. It's always a beautiful (HOT) day, with a great view of the Mississippi River and live music under the Rotary Tent. This year's festival starts out with a FREE children's concert featuring one of Minnesota's finest children's musicians, Will Hale. Then Hot Club of Cowtown, Sarah Borges & the Broken Singles, Mother Truckers, and Melvin Taylor & the Slack Band. I'm sure tickets are still available by calling KAXE (218-326-1234) I'll be working at the Board of Director's food booth in the morning, but I'm looking for friends to join me on my blanket for the afternoon and evening.
In the meantime, my "NOW 11" year old skateboarding fanatic will be competing in our local skateboard competition. After competing in the "Wild in the Park" national competition at 3rd Lair in MSP over the weekend, he realizes there are a million GREAT skaters out there. Welcome to the real world Eddie! We, however, still think he's awsome and know he'll be great in Grand Rapids!
And the third GREAT thing to do in Grand Rapids this weekend is attend the Grand Opening of Akasha Art & Antiques. Stop in on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for special promotions for special shoppers. Hope you stop in and check out my booth!
As for me, on Saturday you'll find me enjoying great music on the Mississippi River!
