So the paper says that it wouldn't be summer in America without a good car show. Really? Well, other things come to mind for me, like camping on a site in Voyagers and not seeing or hearing another person the whole weekend, or catching a big, snarly fish, or working in my flower garden then taking time to enjoy it. But, let's talk about "a good car show". This weekend in Grand Rapids is the biggest car show weekend in all of northern Minnesota, drawing thousands of visitors, show car exhibitors and swap meet vendors to town. The best kept secret of all the advertising is the "swap meet vendors." I lived in Grand Rapids for 3 years before someone told me that "swap meet vendors" actually meant "antique dealers". Who would have assumed that I could find awsome primitives at a car swap meet? (I've since come to realize that tractor show swap meets also have antiques, so go figure...) So, now I'm a car show swap meet fan. In fact not just a fan. This will be my 4th year as a "swap meet vendor." It's great fun, I meet a lot of people, and I've got a great spot to sell my primitives. I hope you come out and see me. You can find me in the overhang section, or what I refer to as "the patio" of the garage to the south of the Grandstand. I'll be setting up on Friday evening for those of you that can't wait. I'll be there all day Saturday and Sunday. My hours are usually something like 8 am to 10 pm, but it depends on the crowds. So I hope to see you! PS: The picture is of my parents taken in the early 50's BK (before kids). I remember riding in this blue chevy truck when I was little. Sure wish we still had it! Notice the baby moons!! COOL!!
