A Dollar Buys You...... So that's the big question to ponder on KAXE's fabulous call-in talk show, hosted by Heidi Holton, tomorrow, Saturday May 3rd. What CAN you actually buy for a dollar these days? I don't know about you, but cash seems to run through my fingers like water, and don't get me started on gas prices! But as I was getting ready for my antique shop to open tomorrow (10 am to 5 pm) I started looking around for MY dollar items. I know at garage sales, flea markets and even some antique shops, it's fun to browse through their dollar piles. So these are the items I found that could sell for a buck. Of course, most dealers triple or at least double what they paid in order to pay all their expenses, not to mention all the toil and tribulations they might have gone through to get the stuff...But a dollar actually seems high for things that are at the bottom of a beautiful pail at an auction, or that box of great old barq cloth, or in the bottom of a trunk or old cupboard. This stuff was free... Sometimes the neighbors actually drop things off for me. Last year I had a dresser that I was sick of at the end of the summer after trying to sell it for $5 and that ended up to be free with the purchase of other things. Sometimes you can find things in junk piles, or castoff's after an auction. I actually got a really, really cool vintage turquoise beverage set still in the original box. That was "gifted" to one of my favorite customers as a thank you for driving all the way from Side Lake to see me!!
So, I think if you really ARE a scrounger, you CAN find things for a dollar. If scrounging is not your cup of tea...well, that's why there are people like me around!
