We are in that crazy time of year when last week it warmed to 30 degrees above zero and our basement flooded. So naturally, my thoughts turned to spring. Is it time to plan the garden? Must be because I started visualizing which area of the garden to start as soon as some of the snow melts. I purchased my new "warm" rubber boots that I plan to wear with my smart wool socks! I started scanning garden catalogs and reviewed photos I took last year. Of course I know that my garden is never the same and things just pop up where ever they please! This week, it's back to colder temperatures. Today, now with snowflakes falling, my attention turns from outside to inside....time to make a few Easter party girls. This little gal I've named Benedetta Bunny, Angel/CEO of Easter Egg Hunts. If you look closely you'll notice she is actually a bunny, with floppy ears and rusty wire whiskers. I'll put more details out on my newly designed web site for you to check out...www.checkeredpastprimitives.com. Why the name? Well, I never name a doll until she's finished, because it seems each one has a personality, or maybe reminds me of someone. This gal looked like she was ready to bounce, ready to party, or maybe jump over a fence. That reminded me of someone in my past named Benedetta who is rumored to hold the fence jumping contest in my township. She was a friend of my grandma Mable, lived across the street and went to the same church. Benedetta taught Sunday School for many years and she was a tremendous positive force in my life and I will never forget her contategious enthusiasm! She was very funny, always had us laughing and always had a smile on her face. Just thinking of her brightens my day. Hope you have fond memories of someone to brighten your day!
